Lara Martin, ND, LM

Drawing on her background in science and her desire to engage in a sustainable, proactive type of medical care, Dr. Lara Martin serves her patients with excellence, compassion, and integrity. In her role as primary care doctor, pediatrician, and midwife, Dr. Martin sees patients at her clinic, Balanced Family Natural Medicine in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Dr. Martin holds a B.S. in cell and molecular biology from Pacific University. After completing this degree, she took a few years to work as a medication aide in an assisted living center. Watching the enormous volume of pills pushed on her aging patients convinced her there had to be a better way to provide medical care to her community.

Her research led her to naturopathic medicine, and she knew she had found her calling. In 2014, Dr. Martin earned her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine (now known as National University of Natural Medicine) in Portland, OR.

As part of her training, she took part in a rigorous internship in cardiopulmonary medicine. She also had an externship in midwifery at a birth center. Midwifery is now a treasured part of her practice as she travels in and around Hillsboro to deliver babies and give them the best start possible. Dr. Martin is proud to be the first and only naturopathic midwife in Hillsboro.

As both a molecular biologist and a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Martin brings vast experience to the table. She uses a range of modalities for prevention and treatment, including nutrition, homeopathy, botanicals, and pharmaceuticals when needed.

She wants to help her patients meet their health goals through a holistic approach that is doable and sustainable for them. Her main areas of interest include women’s health, pediatrics, fertility, midwifery, preconception counseling, and pregnancy and postpartum wellness.

Dr. Martin lives in Hillsboro, OR and she is the proud mother of two sons and a daughter who keep her very busy. And her dogs, Luna and Chloe complete the family. When she isn’t with patients or chasing after her children, Dr. Martin enjoys hiking in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, going to the beach, and curling up on the couch with some popcorn and a good movie.

Dr. Martin loves being able to raise her family here and looks forward to sharing her passion for good health, naturopathic medicine, and natural childbirth with the people of her community.
